Eugene Richard Zuege, 75, Spencer,
passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2006 at The Colonial
House Nursing & Rehabilitative Center in Colby, WI due to
complications from multiple strokes.
He was born August 30, 1930, in the
Township of Beaver, Wisconsin to Frank Martin and Elsie (Johnson)
Zuege. He grew up on the family farm in Loyal, Wisconsin.
He graduated from Loyal High School in 1948. Stationed at Fort
Leonard Wood in Missouri, he served active duty in the United States
Army with the 813th EAB, Elmendorf AFB Unit in Alaska from
January 26, 1952 to December 23, 1953, where he was an E-4 Corporal
and operated and serviced trucks up to fifteen tons. In 1954, he
returned to Loyal to work on the family farm until 1970. Upon
moving to Spencer, he was employed at Land O’Lakes for twenty years,
retiring in 1990. Gene’s favorite pastimes included cooking on
the grill, fishing, working in the yard, and gardening. He was
mechanically-minded and was able to fix nearly anything. He had
a love for animals, as well. Gene was a very kind-hearted man.
