Bohn, Gerald Francis
Jerry was born on the Bohn family farm in West Bend, WI to John & Irene (Thomas)
Bohn. In 1958, he began work as a sewing machine salesman. On May 14, 1972, he
became a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was very proud of his 33
years of sobriety. Many years ago, he and two other men formed the Sunday night
meeting in Fifield, WI, which still continued after his death. He helped others by being
their AA sponsor, as well. He loved to help people and did not expect anything in return.
He put others ahead of himself. In 1975 he began a retail sewing machine business,
Statewide Sewing Centers, Inc. Having stores in Superior, West Bend, Park Falls,
Medford, Marshfield, and Wauwatosa, WI, along with offices in Waseca, MN & Phillips,
WI, he also traveled the entire Midwest to sell sewing machines to the public and
received awards for being one of the largest dealers in the Midwest. He also sold hats,
fishing lure earrings, fishing rods, vacuum cleaners, and various other retail items,
including flashing arrow signs (through his business, Sign Me Up Sign Company, which he
operated during the 1990's). On October 2, 1976, he chose Judy as his life partner, and he welcomed his step-
daughter, Davette, into his life. In February 1978, his daughter, Lynne, was born. He enjoyed spending time with
his family & friends, plus meeting new people. Being a superb salesman, watching sports, traveling, listening to
polkas & old-time country music, and being active in AA were his interests. He was a strong, loving, giving person,
and a good provider. He was a loving spouse and devoted father. He believed in taking one day at a time. He
also believed that one would never know fulfillment if he never tried. He passed on due to complications one day
after open heart surgery. In his last days of life, his bravery was obvious, and his immediate family was proud of
him.
